Despite the uncharacteristically warm weather, the wheel of the year is poised on the doorstep of Winter.
And while some snow would be nice I remain acutely grateful to the season so far and how it has presented itself. It has been a long year for us. Our move from urban to rural, while one of choice, has come with a steep learning curve. Not to mention expensive surprises in both time and money. The prospect of our first winter on our homestead comes with some baggage for me - so far, the perceived issues live in the realm called 'fear of the unknown'. I have no basis for concern, yet fret I do.
Somewhere along this path, my method of coping took on the shape of worrying more so that the end result seems less. Not at all a productive or helpful way to deal. With the desire to reshape this coping mechanism or lack thereof, I am inspired to celebrate our first Solstice on our homestead with a warm and bright fire outside. With the old year on it's way out, I hope this fire will be the reminder I need to let this behaviour go. Send it up and away in smoke and ash.
Leave lots of room for the peace of this coming season.
Happy Monday folks.
